JAIHL follows the COPE Core Practices, current ICMJE Recommendations where applicable, and the DOAJ Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing. These standards inform the journal’s policies but do not replace applicable law or institutional ethics requirements.
Authorship and Originality
Authorship is limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All submissions must represent original work. Plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, redundant or duplicate publication, and unethical citation practices are strictly prohibited.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose financial, professional, or personal relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its evaluation, including relationships with AI technology companies or medical device manufacturers. Full detail is set out in the Conflict of Interest Policy.
Research Ethics
For studies involving human participants, authors confirm ethics approval and informed consent where applicable, consistent with the Declaration of Helsinki. For studies involving animals, authors provide evidence of approval from an appropriate animal care and use body, consistent with ARRIVE guidance. Full detail is set out in the Human and Animal Rights Policy and the Informed Consent Policy.
AI-Generated Content and Tools
Authors must disclose the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of their manuscript. AI tools cannot be listed as an author or co-author. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of any content produced with AI assistance. Full detail is set out in the AI and LLM Policy.
Misconduct and Integrity Concerns
Concerns may include fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, undisclosed AI-generated content, image manipulation, duplicate publication, authorship misconduct, or other serious breaches of publication standards. The journal follows COPE procedures and may seek information from authors, institutions, ethics committees, or other relevant parties.
Complaints and Appeals
JAIHL maintains a transparent and fair process for handling complaints and appeals related to editorial decisions, peer review, or alleged breaches of publication ethics, reviewed by editorial leadership in accordance with COPE guidance.
Post-Publication Amendments
Corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern are handled in accordance with COPE guidelines. Full procedure is set out in the Retraction and Correction Policy.
