Article Processing Charges (APC)
1. Open Access Model
The Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare & Life Sciences (JAIHL) follows a fully open-access publishing model. All content is freely available immediately upon publication without charge to the user or their institution. In accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of Open Access, users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.
2. Article Processing Charges (APC) and Subsidized Fee Model
To sustain high-quality editorial management, rigorous peer review, and long-term digital preservation, JAIHL operates on a subsidized fee model. A standard Article Processing Charge (APC) of EUR 550 applies exclusively to manuscripts for which authors have access to dedicated research funding or institutional publication support.
- No Submission Fees: JAIHL does not charge any submission or desk-evaluation fees.
- Post-Acceptance Only: The APC applies solely after a manuscript has successfully cleared peer review and been formally accepted for publication.
- Tax Transparency: The stated fee is comprehensive; there are no hidden transactional surcharges or additional page charges.
3. Editorial Independence and Waiver Policy
To ensure that financial considerations do not influence scholarly outcomes, all APC waiver requests are handled entirely by the administrative office independently of the editorial team. Peer review, review timelines, and editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific merit, originality, and quality of the work and are never influenced by an author’s ability to pay or funding status.
