Article Processing Charges (APC)
Open Access Model
The Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare & Life Sciences (JAIHL) follows a fully open-access publishing model. All content is freely available without charge to the user or their institution. In accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of Open Access, users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles.
Article Processing Charges (APC)
To sustain high-quality editorial management, peer review, and long-term digital preservation, JAIHL operates on a subsidized fee model. A standard Article Processing Charge (APC) of EUR 550 applies only to manuscripts for which authors have access to dedicated research funding or institutional publication support. No APC is charged prior to acceptance.
Commitment to Equity: Full APC Waivers
JAIHL is committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent the publication of high-quality research. Full (100%) APC waivers are available under the following conditions:
-
Unfunded Research: Authors who certify that they have no institutional, governmental, or grant-based funding for their work.
-
Student Authors: Corresponding authors currently enrolled in a PhD or doctoral program.
-
LMIC Authors: Corresponding authors from countries classified by the World Bank as low- or lower-middle-income economies.
-
Editorial Contributors: Active reviewers who have contributed to the journal within the previous 12 months.
Editorial Independence
To prevent conflicts of interest, APC waiver requests are handled by the administrative office independently of the editorial team. Peer review and editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific merit of the work and are never influenced by an author’s ability to pay or by APC waiver status.
