Peer Review Process
The Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare & Life Sciences (JAIHL) employs a rigorous double-anonymized peer-review process to ensure the publication of scientifically sound, original, and methodologically robust research.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editorial office to assess completeness, compliance with journal policies, relevance to the journal’s scope, and similarity screening for potential plagiarism.
2. Editorial Assessment
The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned Associate Editor conducts a preliminary evaluation of the manuscript’s originality, scientific quality, ethical compliance, and methodological rigor. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s standards may be desk-rejected at this stage.
3. Peer Review
Manuscripts deemed suitable are sent to a minimum of two independent external reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. JAIHL follows a double-anonymized review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure objectivity and fairness.
Reviewers are required to declare any conflicts of interest before accepting a review invitation. JAIHL adheres to the highest standards of research integrity throughout the review cycle.
4. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ reports, the handling editor makes one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Minor Revisions
- Major Revisions
- Reject
Authors receive anonymous reviewer comments and editorial guidance to support revision where applicable.
5. Revision and Final Decision
Revised manuscripts are evaluated by the handling editor and, when necessary, returned to the original reviewers for further assessment. A final publication decision is made by the editor based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the quality of the revised submission.
