Author Guidelines
Manuscripts must be submitted online through the journal’s Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. Submissions must represent original work that has not been published previously and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Article Types
The Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare & Life Sciences (JAIHL) accepts the following article types. Authors should adhere to the recommended limits:
- Original Research Articles
Typically up to 6,000 words (excluding references), with a structured abstract of up to 300 words. - Review Articles (Systematic or Narrative)
Typically up to 7,000 words, with a structured or unstructured abstract of up to 300 words. - Methodological / Technical Papers
Up to 5,000 words, focusing on novel algorithms, frameworks, or validation approaches. - Short Communications
Up to 3,000 words, reporting preliminary findings, technical notes, or concise studies.
Reference limits should be appropriate to the article type and scientific context.
Manuscript Preparation
File Format
- Main manuscript files must be submitted in .docx or .rtf format.
Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should be organized in the following order:
- Title
- Abstract (structured as Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion)
- Keywords (3–6 keywords)
- Introduction
- Materials and Methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusions
- References
- Figures and Tables with captions
References
- References must be formatted consistently using either APA (7th edition) or Vancouver style.
- Authors are responsible for accuracy and completeness of all references.
Figures and Tables
- Figures and tables should be of high resolution and submitted as separate, editable files where possible (e.g., .eps, .tiff).
- Each figure and table must have a clear caption and be cited in the text.
Disclosure of Funding and AI Use
Authors must clearly disclose:
- All sources of funding and any potential conflicts of interest.
- The use of artificial intelligence tools, if applicable, in data analysis, figure generation, language editing, or manuscript preparation. The extent and purpose of AI use must be transparently described.
Ethical Compliance
Authors are expected to comply with applicable research ethics standards, including approvals for studies involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data, where relevant.
Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
Accepted articles will be assigned DOIs upon publication once DOI registration is active.
